2012 KTM 990 SMR
2012 KTM 990 SMR
FUN FACTOR XXL

“R” means racing – and the 990 SM R is the super sport bike among the Supermotos. The 999cc LC8- V2 with 116 hp serves some extra thrust while delivering a remarkably smooth partial load response thanks to its sophisticated electronic fuel injection.
Only the finest components make it to the periphery of the SM R – components like radial Brembo Monoblock four-pot callipers on great 305mm discs, controlled by the state-of-the-art Bosch 9M+ ABS. Or the super sticky OEM Continental SportAttack tires.
Also, 48mm USD forks by WP and a rear shock from the same maker thrill with a razor sharp racing set-up as well as a highly sensitive response. Ingredients that just could not be better matched. Or simply the recipe for one of the most dynamic rides, not just in the Supermoto segment.
2012 KTM 990 SMR Features and Benefits
- Powerful LC8 4-stroke V-Twin, electronic Keihin fuel injection with two throttle valves, balancer shaft, hydraulic multi-disc wet clutch, 6-speed gearbox
- Max. output: 85 kW/116 hp, emissions: Euro 3
- State-of-the-art Bosch 9M+ ABS
- Rigid, powder coated, chrome-molybdenum steel trellis frame with black aluminium swingarm
- Fully adjustable, 48 mm WP upside-down forks
- Fully adjustable WP monoshock
- New aluminium wheels with Continental hypersport tires
- Radial Brembo monoblock four-pot front callipers on floating brake discs
- Complex KTM R graphics
- Even tighter entry-level pricing thanks to optimised component tuning

Fantastic Penton KTM Oldie Jack Pine Special Supermoto
Double post from the two-stroke page.
I get some good traffic over here from the PentonUSA.org folks so every now and then I like to go over and see what theyre up to. Great bunch of folks and if youre even remotely interested in old Penton or KTM motorcycles (or any old dirtbike from that era) then go pay em a vist. Great Stuff!
Anyway while I was snooping around over there I stumbled across this beauty. I love this sort of treatment. I was very tempted to buy a similarly built bike a while back that was based on an XT500. Its one of the styles of bikes that really shine when "modernized". Power should NOT be a problem and I imagine she handles brilliantly.
Mr JC Hubbard had the breakdown in his post as follows:
77 Penton 175 Engine with Lectron Carb
77 Penton MC5 Frame & Tank
80 KTM 175 Swingarm
89 KTM GS 125 Forks, Wheels, Brakes
78 KTM Torque Pipe
Trail Tech Cannondale Odo/Speedo
Magura Hymec Hydraulic Clutch
Magura 167 Front Brake Master
Kenda Tires
"Not mine, but a Very Unique project that Ive helped my neighbor with. BTW,,,Its STREET LEGAL and is rode almost everyday, in nice weather!!"
Saw this on ktmtalk.com...In the "Oldie" Section Cant believe it -- but its real...
Thanks Gents!

2012 KTM 250 EXC
HANDLING OF A 125
NEW FRAME
The completely revamped frame made from high-quality chrome-molybdenum steel is characterised by even greater lateral stiffness. The 250 EXCs new, lighter, cast aluminium swingarm accommodates the shock absorber more centrally, in order to load the swing arms more evenly. TELESCOPIC FORK, NEW SETTING
The sensitive responsiveness and outstanding damping of the open-cartridge fork with 48 mm (1.89 in) outer tubes are a perfect complement for the 250 EXCs playful handling and precision.
NEW WHEELS
Practically unbeatable in terms of weight and stability, the new wheels have CNC-machined hubs, Excel rims, zinc/nickel-coated spokes and aluminium nipples. They reduce the unsprung and gyroscopic masses, hence bolstering the playful handling of the 250 EXC.

KTM 125 Duke ASEANs Log
Austrian motorcycle manufacturer, KTM 125 Duke officially unveiled to the ASEAN. Singapore was chosen as the first country to do in Rochester Restaurant last weekend.
Unexpectedly, 20 units are sold at Dukes 125 Singapore dollars per unit 9500 or the equivalent of Rp67, 1 million per unit sold. Pretty expensive! But, do not be discouraged yet, the article of the tax burden that must be paid by consumers to have a vehicle in Singapore is larger than Indonesia. One was the famous Vehicle Ownership Tax and not to mention the road tax and vehicle age (age above 10 years).

Duke marketed to Singapore through its dealers and has been marketing DirtWheel other models such as the Duke 690, Duke 990, do not miss some other superbike models. Selvaraj Narayana, KTMs Director of Sales and Logistics South East Asia region said, this product is the result of production from the Chakan plant in Pune, India Bajaj production sites.
"But, since this model first, so the first 20 units shipped from India to Austria, then shipped to Singapore," said Narayana, as reported by BikesAdvice, (22 / 8).
After Singapore, further Narayana, KTM Malaysia aiming for a launch in the near future. "We plan to introduce this motorcycle in Malaysia within the next few days and Malaysian Prime Minister (Najib Razak) be the special guest, because he who opened the hood next to the community, Narayana beber.
Indonesia
Why not choose Indonesia KTM Duke to launch 125? Of the outstanding issues, Indonesia is also assigned to the Duke 200 will be marketed in India. Until now, the unit reportedly still in the development of collaboration technologies KTM and Bajaj.
Directors of PT Bajaj Auto Indonesia, Tomotaka Ishikawa also recommends KTM if you want to market products in Indonesia have a higher engine capacity of 125cc. He considered, consumers in Indonesia are still fond of a capacity large machine so hoping for more power. "Image 125cc bike was not too good in Indonesia, especially when the selling price is high. They want more, this is what we recommend to KTM when going to market the unit here (Indonesia)," said Tomotaka.
