The 2013 GSX1300R Hayabusa
Since Suzuki introduced a motorcycle in 1999 that would come to define the hypersport category. The name is GSX1300R Hayabusa. Hayabusa is Japanese for the peregrine falcon, a bird that can hit over 200 mph while vertical diving for prey. Suzuki does a clever marketing title, considering one of the peregrine falcon’s prey was the Blackbird, which was the name giving to Honda’s CBR1100XX.
For 2013, Suzuki has slightly refined its Hayabusa, the GSX-R1300R arriving with ABS and Brembo Monobloc calipers. This will be the first bike in Suzuki’s sportbike lineup to feature ABS. The engine arrive with the 1340cc, DOHC, liquid-cooled inline four with Suzuki’s Dual Throttle Valve (SDTV) fuel injection system, the engine tuned for a broad powerband.
The 2013 Suzuki Hayabusa features a lightweight twin-spar aluminun-alloy frame and 43mm inverted front forks that feature a Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating surface treatment on the tubes to reduce friction and increase reaction to small irregularities on the road. Out back, the Hayabusa features a link-type coil spring. Beside that the Hayabusa features Suzuki’s Drive Mode Selector (S-DMS), which allows riders to select one of three engine maps based on performance, and a six-speed transmission with Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS) back-torque-limiting clutch to deliver smooth and controlled downshifts.
To stopping the “beast“ engine the Hayabusa make Brembo Technology. This is top-of-the-line radial-mount Brembo Monobloc front brake calipers deliver better feedback to the rider. Piston diameter were enlarged from 32-30mm to 32-32mm. Larger pistons help apply greater force to the brake disc, which results in increased initial bite and a more controlled feeling. As for the discs, they are 320mm.
And for the last, The 2013 Hayabusa arrive with new feature, its new standard equipment Antilock Brake System (ABS) unit features a lightweight, compact design. The ABS enhances brake performance by helping prevent, to a certain extent, wheel locking due to changes in road conditions or excessive braking, by matching stopping power to available traction. The ABS is a supplemental device for brake operation, not a device for shortening stopping distance. Always remember to reduce speed sufficiently before approaching curves.

Out with the New In with the New Husaberg Time

I have been leaning towards the dirt lately. As such, I went ahead and put down a deposit on this badass 2011 Husaberg FE 570S. An uncompromising 100% street legal enduro, and an innovative engineering feat with its laid down 70 degree motor, this bike is a lightweight beast that will rip your face off.
Ill be running the 18"/21" DOT knobbies for the next several months. However, it will likely be doing double duty as a trail murderer and a nice little supermoto in the future when I can spring for 17" wheels, a cush drive hub, 320 mm brake rotor, and maybe some suspender adjustments.
Picking it up next Saturday, March 17th. I suspect it should be a lot of fun...

The New 2013 Kawasaki Z800E
This is new generation of naked street-fighter from Kawasaki Motorcycle. The name is 2013 Kawasaki Z800E. This bike is successor to the hugely popular Z750 is being seen as a machine destined to appeal to riders keen to express their individuality with the addition of a variety of factory genuine accessories. It’s Combining an innovative, forward looking styling approach with many engine, chassis and rider friendly upgrades. When many manufacturers either compromise or hesitate to launch innovative models, the Z800E stands out as a fresh, new, exciting prospect – a true middleweight contender with a knockout punch. The Z800E is set to maintain Kawasaki’s record braking sales position in this ever popular market sector.
The engine packed with 806 cm3 type liquid-cooled, 4-stroke in-line four, DOHC, 16 valves, Fuel system Mikuni 34mm x 4, with dual throttle valves, clutch used wet multi-disc manual and 6 speed of transmision. The engine tuned for strong low-mid range torque. It’s can produce power 70.0 kW {95 PS} @ 9,500 rpm and torque 76.0 N*m {7.7 kgf*m} @ 8,000 rpm.
The Z800E used highly communicative chassis. Tubular backbone chassis design with engine sub-frame and new connecting pipe, and revised chassis rigidity offer great feedback to the rider, communicating what the bike is doing in all situations. Besides that this bike also used 41mm KYB Inverted fork for front suspension. It’s optimized for the increased engine and revised frame rigidity the front fork is adjustable for rembound dumping and preload. In rear side used Bottom-Link Uni-Trak, gas-charged shock with 7-way preload adjustability.
For braked Z800E used dual semi-floating 310 mm petal discs, dual opposed 4-piston (ABS version) dual twin-piston (non ABS) in front side. For rear side used single 250 mm petal disc single-piston. Kawasaki released this bike in UK MSRP Price: £6,899. For colour choice there are many option such as pearl stardust white, metallic spark black, pearl blazing orange, flat ebony.
The A C and Fuel Management Dilemma Part I
I settled on a new air cleaner after much of internal debate - Joker Machine (http://www.jokermachine.com/itemstreet2004.asp?ItemID=615&CategoryID=6&Placeholder=0). Not really an original thought and seems to be pretty standard issue on Sportsters, but its well-made, small and I like the anodized silver finish. If I hate it after I put it on there, then you might see it on eBay next week.
The bigger problem was deciding what to do about fuel management. I decided not to go the route of the Power Commander, FuelPak etc. because I didnt want to have to have another thing installed on the bike - more wires to hide, box to hide, etc. That pretty much left the HD tuner boxes that reprogram the ECM. I bought the HD Street Performance Tuner (http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/gma_product.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524448775874&default=none). This thing just provides the dealer a way to download new maps from the MoCo. Apparently MoCo is doing away with the Stage 1 ECM map downloads with all new models, and now the only way to do that is with this thing. It doesnt allow me (or a third party tuner) to make any adjustments.
What I thought I was buying was the HD Super Tuner, which does allow the end user to make adjustments.
Of course I couldnt return mine because I opened the box and these things are not returnable if the box has been tampered with. These modules are married to the machine - once they have been linked to a certain bike, they cannot be transferred. So be wary if buying either of these on eBay.
Since I dont plan on doing anything to the motor, Im sure itll run "good enough" with whatever factory map for higher air flow and exhaust I get from the MoCo. I just need it to run a little less hot and lean is all. Im going to dyno it after the reprogram so Ill post the results when I get them...
UPDATE 8/12/2011: So the Street Performance Tuner is crap, and that is basically a direct quote from the tuner whose shop I am sitting in now. Classics such as, "eBay it," and "return this thing," were some other comments I received from the staff at Battley Cycles. Do yourself a favor and avoid buying this. If you are compelled to buy something from the MoCo, then get the Race Tuner. But really the best thing to do is buy whatever the person tuning your bike likes to work with. Bottom line.

The New Ducati Diavel Strada
In 2013, Ducati has enhanced the Diavel lineup with the Diavel Strada. The model sticks to Ducatis usage of the "Strada" extension (think Multistrada and the new Hyperstrada), bringing some touring manors to its cruiser. Its third year of existence, the Diavel has remained relatively unchanged in chassis/engine design.
The Diavel Strada equip in 1198cc desmo engine pushes 162 horsepower and an asphalt-tearing 94 ft. lbs. of torque. The engine breaths through Mitsubishi electronic fuel injection system with Mikuni elliptical throttle bodies and Ride-by-Wire, and massive 58mm exhaust headers the lead into a 2-1-2 system. For more streetability, the Diavels engine features revised intake and exhaust ports combined with radical adjustment of the cam timing have enabled Ducati to achieve a fantastic torque curve at low rpm, which remains strong through a wider rev-range. The desmo is hooked to a six-speed transmission with a slipper clutch that features a "super-light" feel at the lever. 
More new instruments such as embedded on the Diavel strada Handlebar mounted instrumentation with LCD display: speed, rpm, time, coolant temp. Warning lights for: Neutral, turn signals, high-beam, rev-limit, DTC intervention, ABS status, oil pressure, fuel reserve. Tank mounted instrumentation with TFT color display: gear selected, air temp, battery voltage, trips 1 & 2, fuel reserve trip, average and actual fuel consumption and speed, trip time, scheduled maintenance. Full status and/or management of Riding Modes, DTC, RbW and ABS.
