Yamaha 2008 relases

Yamaha has unveiled the 2008 Yamaha R1 - and although the motorcycle has not been radically changed, it does come in a choice of three new colour schemes.

Yamaha has given the new 2008 Yamaha YZF-R6 a complete workover and despite the motorcycle looking pretty similar to the current Yamaha R6, it gets a new frame and swingarm, reworked 599cc engine, new slipper clutch, improved front brakes and more aerodynamic bodywork.

This is the all-new 2008 Yamaha YZF-R125 motorcycle which will go head to head with the top-selling Honda CBR125R. The Yamaha YZF-R125 uses an all-new liquid-cooled 124cc, four-valve, short-stroke single cylinder engine, which is claimed to be the most powerful 125cc four-stroke motorcycle available. It has a six-speed gearbox and fuel injection, and a Yamaha YZF-R6 style stubby exhaust with twin catalysts is fitted.

Yamaha’s iconic660 Tenere Paris-Daker replica motorcycle is making a return for 2008 with an all-new design.

The Yamaha 500cc-liquid cooled parallel twin scooter gets a new frame, a larger fuel tank, four-piston monoblock brake calipers from the Yamaha FZ6 motorcycle (fitted with ABS as standard), and a larger underseat storage area. The bodywork has also been restyled for a sharper look close to the 2008 Yamaha YZF-R6 motorcycle.

This is Yamaha’s aggressive new drag-style XV1900 Raider custom cruiser, which will only be available in the USA.

2012 BMW R1200GS Adventure Triple Black

2012 BMW R1200GS Adventure Triple Black
This new 2012 BMW R1200GS Adventure Triple Black has just been released by BMW.
Like the previous Triple Black edition of the standard GS, which proved very popular, the new Adventure version has a three-shade paint scheme that covers the Telelever forks, engine cases, rear frame, Paralever swingarm and cylinder head covers.
The parts of the body, the blades of the fork and the motor are Telelever color Black Metallic (Sapphire Black Metallic), ranging tones to give the Ethics all’endurona road even more individuality and particularity.
The Paralever (single arm rear) and rear frame are gray (Asphalt Grey Metallic), the cylinder head cover, always gray, has a different shade (Granite Grey Metallic), and the finish side of the aluminum tank close under this “work relief” aesthetic. To complete the contrast and color, we find the saddle in black, and Grey Rallye headlights.
The first in the range of Triple Black motorcycles, the R 1200 GS, was launched in 2010 and has proved to be very popular. The Adventure Triple Black offers the same dark colours, but also features a huge 33-litre fuel tank, a taller touring screen, spoked wheels, longer travel suspension (ideal for on and off-road expeditions) and rugged engine protection bars.
BMW’s Tony Jakeman, said: “The first Triple Black, the R1200GS, was such a hit with customers that it was only a matter of time before the Adventure Triple Black was created.

Fallout Motorcycle Concept Pictures

Fallout Motorcycle Concept
Designed around a Bimota frame and featuring a single-sided swingarm as well as hub-centered steering, the ideas shown here might just see their way on the future’s much more refined streetfighters. Also, the “Fallout” comes with short bobber handle bars, chopped exhaust and a long tank, so it could always pass as a custom, although we’d love to see something like this being mass produced.

2012 Kawasaki KLX250S Review
Built for both on-and off-road use, the light and nimble KLX250S is an ideal ride for dual-sporting fun. The rigors of off-road motorcycling dictate additional protection for the exposed underside of the machine, so the KLX250S comes standard with an aluminum engine guard to protect its crankcase during off-road adventures. Negotiating tight terrain also highlights another off-road reality – heat. The 43mm inverted cartridge-style front fork features 16-way adjustable compression damping and 10.0-inches of travel. Strong, 4mm-thick spokes in the 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels provide excellent rigidity for enhanced off-road durability. The KLX250S also stops hard, thanks to twin-piston calipers squeezing a 250mm semi-floating petal-shaped disc up front and a 240mm petal-shaped disc at the rear.
The latest and greatest KLX250S features unbelievable off road performance and real KLX heritage making it an awesome on or off road machine.

2010 Honda VFR1200F Specs News and Review

Radical doesn’t begin to describe the all-new 2010 VFR1200F. After they took it for their inaugural spin Cycle World called it “revolutionary.” And while that certainly describes this incredible new machine, it doesn’t begin to do it justice. The list of innovative technology is endless: the layered, MotoGP-inspired bodywork that’s literally fused in seamless perfection for optimal aerodynamics. An all-new, super-compact Unicam® design 1237cc V4 engine, fueled by Honda’s first-ever Throttle By Wire system. Combined Braking with standard ABS.
The most advanced – or controversial – innovation on this upscale bike is its compact transmission that uses two clutches to shift gears, with the ability to do so automatically. As the first of its kind ever put in a motorcycle, it works like those found on F1 race cars, as well as street-going supercars, and even sports cars from the likes of Mitsubishi and VW.
The 1237cc V-4 emits a low-octave purr when fired up, and the 28-degree piston throw produces a sound distinct from previous Honda V-4s. From the side of the road, the exhaust note sounds not unlike a revvier BMW Boxer motor, but once at higher rpm when the exhaust valve opens up, the drone changes to a growl similar to a MotoGP bike.
Engine braking does still exist, so if you do something ham-fisted like drop it in first gear at 60 mph – which is near redline in that gear for this machine – you can expect some protest or sliding at the rear wheel.
The DCT does not have a slipper clutch, and in most cases doesn’t need one. In MT mode as well, the PCM’s precise throttle blips ordinarily keep you out of trouble.
Nor will the PCM allow an over-revving downshift – or upshift for that matter, and will limit over-revs to 10,700 rpm. Riders are therefore encouraged to explore this new kind of motorcycle without fear of breaking something.
The new switchgear does take time to learn, but those clever carriers-on of the spirit of Soichiro Honda have painstakingly thought, and re-thought, and thought some more to make the whole experience as intuitive as they could.

2012 RSV4 Factory APRC

2012 RSV4 Factory APRC
Aprilia are now showing the 2012 RSV4 Factory APRC at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan. The RSV4, currently one of the hottest, fastest superbikes on the planet, gets new colours for 2012 as well as revised engine management and a tweaked, optimised Aprilia Performance Ride Control (APRC) package with eight-level traction control, launch control, quick shift system and wheelie control.
Created with the single-minded goal of being simply the best on the track and on the road, since its inception the 2012 RSV4 Factory APRC has astonished the world with its looks, technology and performance. The first 65° V-4 engine ever in a sports production bike, a chassis worthy of a 250 GP, Ride By Wire, multimap engine management: all these are accomplished achievements for the Aprilia RSV4, that tops unique architecture and specs with Aprilias signature excellent rideability brought to the next level.

With 180 horsepower at 12,250rpm and 115Nm of torque at 10,000rpm from its 999cc V4, the 2012 RSV4 Factory APRC remains one of the most powerful litre-class superbikes in the world. At 179 kilos dry, it’s not the lightest in its class, but with its host of high-tech electronics and superb chassis, it definitely is one of the best handling. We expect the 2012 edition to come out on top in litre-bike shootouts that are sure to happen over the next few months.
The chassis framework is completed by a top notch suspension package, the Sachs upside down fork has 43 mm diameter stanchions and offers the possibility of adjusting the spring and hydraulic compression and rebound preload. The Sachs rear shock was developed from experience learned directly on the track. It features a Piggy Back nitrogen canister (separate and mounted on the body of the unit) and adjustable spring preload, compression and rebound damping and length, allowing the height of the rear end of the bike to be altered to modify the set-up to suit different riding styles and tracks. Completing the package is a steering damper, also by Sachs, which ensures impeccable high speed stability and millimetre precision in setting the bike up for turns.

The new features introduced by the 2012 RSV4 Factory APRC in detail:

2008 Yamaha XV1900 Custom Raider S

2008 Yamaha XV1900 Custom Raider S2008 Yamaha XV1900 Custom Raider S Picture

When the engineers at Yamaha set out to aftermath a accurate custom machine, the accessible allotment was the administration and absorption to detail.

The ambush was to amalgamate this alarming "chopper" aggressive administration with a anatomy that would action above handling. The engineers at Yamaha were not accommodating to compromise. The new XV19 Custom S charge bear abundant administration and accomplished ride quality. Discover the above quality, administration and all annular achievement of the new XV19 Custom S.

2008 Yamaha XV1900 Custom Raider S FEATURES:

High-performance, 1854cc (113 cubic inch) air-cooled, long-stroke, OHV, 4 valves per cylinder, 48°, V-twin powerplant produces massive torque and class leading acceleration from very low rpms.

Maximum torque occurs at 2,500 rpm while maximum power occurs at 4,500 rpm, providing exciting acceleration with great pulse / torque feel.

Traditional pushrod valve actuation keeps engine height down for a lower centre of gravity and ensures more uniform heat dissipation due to absence of a cam chain case. A lower centre of gravity helps to insure light, easy handling.

Four-valve cylinder heads provide optimal breathing efficiency for great power delivery at all rpms. The two spark plugs per cylinder means faster, more complete combustion for maximum power output.

Cylinder head design utilizes a pent roof combustion chamber design and features an oil passage near the exhaust valve seat to improve cooling and durability. The heads also feature engine mounting points on each side of the head for increased chassis rigidity for exceptional handling.

Large size valves increase engine horsepower and torque. The intake valves are 36mm in diameter while the exhaust valves are 31mm.

Specially designed valve train includes short design intake and exhaust rocker arms that reduce inertia during high-rpm use.

High performance spec twin, crankcase-mounted, high-lift cams ensure strong torque and class leading acceleration.

Mechanical centrifugal decompression mechanism located in each of the exhaust camshafts, insures fast, easy starts. This new system is contained inside the camshafts and reduces weight since no solenoid etc. is required and complexity.

Hydraulic valve lifters driven by the twin camshafts deliver exceptional performance and significantly reduce maintenance and tune-up requirements.

The crank shaft is a single pin design, providing that special V-twin sound and pulse feel. Optimized flywheel mass and "damper-less" crankshaft allows the rider to feel the directness of the engines power.

For each rotation of the rear wheel, in 5th gear, the crank spins 3.14 times providing an outstanding rear wheel driving force feeling to the rider.

Compact design dual balancers reduce vibration for exceptional rider and passenger comfort. The balancers are positioned on either end of the crankshaft to reduce vibration and to minimize the size of the engine cases. The balancer is designed to reduce vibration while still allowing that classic V-twin pulse feel.

3-axis crankcase layout means the crankshaft, main axle and drive shaft are specially arranged to minimize the size of the engine cases and centralize mass.

The dry sump oil lubrication system has been optimized to ensure maximum lubrication and cooling. Special oil nozzles direct oil at the bottom of the pistons to cool and lubricate them. Dry sump system means a more compact engine design since the oil tank is not part of the engine, which lowers the centre of gravity for great handling and a light feel.

Special "dual chamber" crankcase design. The front section is for the crank assembly while the rear is for the transmission. Two, 3-rotor high capacity oil pumps optimizes oil flow in each of the two main sections of the engine.

Huge 100mm bore ceramic composite-plated cylinders provide uniform heat dissipation, reduce weight, reduce friction and increase cylinder service life.

Large-diameter pistons are both durable and lightweight. Yamahas exclusive "controlled forged construction" keeps the pistons light for faster response and to accommodate higher-rpm performance with reduced vibration and less reciprocating mass. The pistons feature an Alumite coating to reduce friction.

Cooling fin thickness and depth is optimized for maximum heat dissipation, thereby eliminating the need for liquid cooling, while maintaining that traditional, stylish air-cooled engine appearance. Each cooling fin is specially polished to create shining highlights that change with the angle of the light.

43mm, twin-bore, downdraft throttle body fuel injection (FI) with throttle position sensor (TPS) ensures great throttle response and maximum power throughout the rev range. This system is a "closed loop" system, since it utilizes an oxygen sensor in the exhaust to monitor the concentration of oxygen and adjust the FI system if necessary. The benefits of fuel injection include chokeless operation, increased fuel economy, instant throttle response and reduced emissions.

The 12-hole, 2-directional Mikuni fuel injectors produce a wide spray pattern for complete cylinder filling. This special spray pattern combined with the dual spark plug head ensures complete combustion for maximum power. An Idle Speed Control (ISC) has been adopted to ensure stable idling performance.

High capacity electronic fuel pump is located in the sub tank under the seat.

State-of-the-art Electronic Control Unit (ECU) ensures precisely metered fuel delivery and optimal ignition spark control using 3D transistorized coil ignition mapping for each cylinder.

3.5 litre dual inlet air filter box features one inlet at the front and one at the rear of the airbox for maximum breathing efficiency. This new design not only maximizes air flow but also reduces weight and allows for a more open appearance at the steering head area. A viscous paper type air filter is used.

Air Induction System (AIS) injects fresh oxygen at the exhaust port to insure complete combustion thereby reducing harmful exhaust emissions (HC & CO) while a special air cut valve reduces backfiring when decelerating or coasting off throttle.

High-performance, 2-into-1-into-2 exhaust system features large size header pipes for maximum flow. Dual 3-way honeycomb matrix catalyizers reduce harmful exhaust emissions. The stylish dual muffler helps to boost torque and horsepower while producing a throaty, V-twin growl. Heat shields protect the rider and passenger from hot components.

The exhaust system also features a lightweight titanium EXUP exhaust power valve most commonly found on high performance sport bikes. The EXUP system not only provides crisp throttle response and eliminates flat spots" but also improves acceleration, reduces fuel consumption and harmful emissions too.

Smooth-shifting, 5-speed transmission features optimized gear ratios for both strong low rpm acceleration and relaxed highway cruising. 5th gear is an overdrive gear for reduced engine rpms at highway speeds for maximum riding comfort.

Heavy duty 10 plate clutch is designed compliment engine power characteristics. This new clutch is operated by an all new hydraulic master cylinder instead of a cable. The hydraulic clutch design is low maintenance, self adjusting and very stylish.

Low-maintenance belt drive system not only significantly reduce maintenance but is also clean and quiet. A belt drive system uses less power than a shaft drive and reduces unsprung weight for great rear suspension performance.

Easy access, spin-on type oil filter means fast, easy oil changes.

High tech, cast aluminium double-cradle frame reduces weight, while balancing strength and rigidity. The engine is rigidly mounted in the frame for added rigidity. The critical head pipe area features box type construction for additional strength. The frame not provides excellent handling characteristics but also compliments the beautiful flowing lines of the entire machine. The open area behind and below the steering head helps to enhance that "chopper inspired" styling image. The main front wire harness is hidden in the head pipe for a clean appearance.

Important Note: Raked out front fork with lots of trail generally provides good straight line stability but often provide heavy steering. The engineers at Yamaha will not sacrifice handling for styling, so they have developed a 6 degree yoke angle combined with a 34degree steering head for a total fork angle of 40 degrees. The XV1900 provides light "athletic handling and easy steering" not commonly found on a custom styled bike. This bike was designed to be ridden !! Key numbers: 6 degree yoke angle; 34 degree caster angle; 152mm of trail.

Lightweight C.F. die cast aluminium swingarm offers superb rigidity and ensures excellent stability and handling. The C.F. die casting process allows for beautiful shapes that are both strong and light. This swingarm is a fashion statement in aluminium and compliments the rest of the XV1900 eye catching styling.

Rigid 46mm Kayaba front fork offers 130mm (5.1") of wheel travel for exceptionally stable handling and great ride comfort. The inner fork tubes are protected by stylish chrome chip guards.

Beefy, cast aluminium, top triple clamp and computer designed lower triple clamp with a 6 degree yoke angle provides excellent handling qualities while maintaining that custom chopper inspired styling.

Link rear suspension features a spring preload adjustable single rear shock delivering outstanding ride comfort and precise handling. The Kayaba shock is horizontally positioned under the engine for a lower center of gravity and is hidden to provide that classic "hardtail" look. Rear wheel travel is 90mm (3.5").

Powerful dual 298mm floating front discs are squeezed by ultra rigid, 4-piston, monoblock calipers to provide sport-bike spec stopping power. Providing exceptional stopping power, these brakes also provide great lever feel and feedback.

Beautiful custom looking 5-spoke cast aluminium 21" front wheel provides a special styling highlight. The width is 3.50 inches wide and is fitted with a 120/70 profile tire. The rear wheel is also a custom inspired 5-spoke 18 inch cast aluminium mag design that is 7.5 inches wide. This rear wheel carries the widest rear tire ever installed on a Yamaha motorcycle … it is a 210 / 40 tire. Both wheels are fitted with tubeless tires.

Large 310mm rear disc is squeezed by a single piston caliper mounted below the swingarm for a lower center of gravity and that customized "hidden look".

Low maintenance, clean, quiet belt drive eliminates messy chain splatter while maximizing power output. History has proven that belt drive systems are ultra reliable and rarely need alignment or tensioning. The belt is embedded with carbon fiber for incredible strength.

Two-piece seat design features a deep notch in the rider seat to give that chopper inspired riding position … more sitting in than sitting on. The rear portion of the riders seat also doubles as a backrest / back support for the rider.

60/55w headlight with unique custom inspired styling can be adjusted up and down and left or right .

Newly designed steel fenders front and rear can be easily customized or painted to suit personal preferences. Custom styled one piece rear fender mounts

Flangeless teardrop style main fuel tank offers 12 litres of capacity. There are no welds visible, providing that clean, custom look. Total fuel capacity is 15 litres thanks to a 3 litre sub tank located low in the frame below the seat. A high pressure electric fuel pump with quick connect fittings provides fuel to the EFI system.

Large 1.25" diameter handlebars. All electrical wires are hidden inside the handle bars for that clean custom look. Selected meter functions can be controlled by buttons on the back of RHS switch.

All new classic fuel tank mounted instrument panel. This comprehensive instrumentation includes an analogue speedo, and fuel gauge with low fuel warning light, plus a digital odometer, dual tripmeters, fuel reserve trip counter and clock. Background illumination can be adjusted to suit personal preferences. Reset buttons are located on the instrument panel while the select switch is located on the left hand switch gear so you can tab through the various functions without removing your hands from the handlebars.

2009 Honda DN 01 Specs

The DN-01 is a peculiar concoction: two parts scooter; one part cruiser; and one part sportbike. And if you have to ride a scooterish motorcycle during Bike Week, this new Honda fits right in by standing apart, as we found out by cruising A1A and Main Street around Daytona last week.
Say what you will about purity, historical relevance, aesthetics or bling, riding during Bike Week is all about getting attention from fellow riders and bystanders. Trundling along down Main at a sub-walking pace on a Chevy V8-powered motorcycle makes no other sense. And in this respect, the DN holds its own in Daytona.

First seen in prototype form in late 2005 at the Tokyo Motor Show, the DN-01 (Dream New Concept 1) was described as a “comfortable sports cruiser.” Now having reached production, Honda calls the DN a “crossover.”Whatever you call it, the DN-01 (could we please have a name with some personality…?) makes a splash wherever it’s ridden. Its arresting design hurt some necks in Daytona, as it caused hundreds of neck-snapping double-takes.
